COMPOUND

Specific mixture of resin and additives formulated to meet the exact technical requirements of a project.

CALIBRATOR

Calibration device ensuring that the exact dimensions of the profile are maintained during its cooling phase.

CONTAMINATION

Presence of foreign particles or burnt materials altering visual or mechanical properties.

TORQUE

Measure of the material’s resistance to screw rotation, serving as a key indicator of process stability.

EXTRUSION THROUGHPUT

Quantity of material processed per unit of time, determining the productivity of the production line.

DEGASSING / VENTING

Extraction system for gases and moisture to guarantee the structural homogeneity of the profile.

SCREW-TO-BARREL CLEARANCE

Critical space between the screw and the barrel directly influencing the efficiency of material mixing.

DRYING / DESICCATION

Drying operation of granules prior to extrusion to prevent surface and structural defects.

EXTRUDER

Industrial machine ensuring the melting, mixing, and pressurization of the raw material.

EXTRUSION

Continuous shaping process consisting of pushing a malleable material through a die to create a profile.

EXTRUSION DIE

) Precision steel tooling determining the final geometry of the profile as the material passes through.

BARREL

Heating cylinder housing the screw and providing the thermal regulation necessary for polymer melting.

DIE SWELL

Elastic expansion of the material at the exit of the tooling, anticipated during the die design phase.

BREAKER PLATE

Perforated plate used to straighten the material flow and hold the screen packs in place.

HYGROSCOPY

Ability of certain materials to absorb ambient moisture, requiring prior thermal drying treatment.

LUBRICANTS

Agents facilitating the flow of material and improving the final surface appearance of the profile.

INKJET MARKING

High-definition printing ensuring in-line traceability and identification of products.

MASTERBATCH

Concentrate of pigments or additives added to color or modify the properties of the material.

SCREEN PACK

Metal wire meshes intended to stop impurities and homogenize back-pressure inside the barrel.

FOIL LAMINATION / WRAPPING

Hot application of a decorative or protective film onto the visible surface of the extruded profile.

ORANGE PEEL

Appearance defect characterized by a grainy surface, generally due to poor thermal regulation.

DISTRIBUTION PLATE / MANIFOLD

Internal element designed to uniformize pressure and material flow across the entire cross-section.

PUNCHING

Mechanical drilling or punching operation carried out automatically in-line to functionalize the profile.

POLYAL

Sustainable material derived from the recycling of food cartons, perfectly combining polyethylene and aluminum.

SURGING

Instability of the material flow leading to cyclic variations in the thickness of the finished product.

MELT PRESSURE

Force exerted by the molten material before entering the die, guaranteeing the stability of the profile.

RECYCLED PVC

Regenerated material offering a high-performance, eco-responsible alternative to virgin PVC.

STRAIGHTNESS

FLYING SAW / TRAVELLING SAW

Automated cutting device allowing precise cutoff without interrupting the extrusion line.

SHARKSKIN

Surface roughness in the form of micro-ridges appearing when the extrusion speed is too high.

UV / THERMAL STABILIZERS

Additives protecting the profile against degradation linked to heat and solar radiation.

RESIDENCE TIME

Duration during which the polymer material remains exposed to heat and pressure inside the machine.

CROSSHEAD DIE

Device allowing extrusion at 90° relative to the machine axis, ideal for sheathing and jacketing applications.

DIE HEAD

Junction piece guiding and distributing the flow of molten material toward the shaping tooling.

GEOMETRIC TOLERANCE

Maximum allowable deviation from nominal dimensions to ensure proper final assembly.

TPE / TPU

Thermoplastic elastomers used for manufacturing flexible profiles or sealing gaskets.

HOPPER

Feeding reservoir ensuring storage and consistent distribution of granules at the extruder inlet.

EXTRUSION SCREW

Internal component whose rotation transports, compresses, and homogenizes the raw material.

VISCOSITY

Resistance to flow of the molten material, a determining parameter for output consistency.

TWISTING
